APPLICATION NOTES:
ECFL 30  CABLE FAULT LOCATOR

FOUR INSTRUMENTS IN ONE
Active bridge for accurate location of faults where the level of disturbing voltages are low
Passive bridge for location of faults where the level of disturbing voltages are high
Graaf fault locator for accurate fault location on totally watersoaked cable
Time Domain Reflectometer to find low impedance faults and splits causing cross talk between pairs

ACTIVE BRIDGE
■ DC Fault Location Methods: Murray, 3 Point, Küpfmüller, Repeated Küpfmüller
■ AC Fault Location Methods: Interruption, Repeated Küpfmüller.
■ Resistance difference measurement.
■ Loop resistance & Isolation resistance measurement.

PASSIVE BRIDGE
■ DC Fault Location Methods: Murray, 3 Point, Küpfmüller, Resistance difference
■ AC Fault Location Methods: Küpfmüller, Capacitive Balance
■ Loop resistance & Isolation resistance measurement

GRAAF FAULT LOCATOR
■ The Graaf method is based on end to end synchronic current measurement
■ It provides accurate fault location when the disturbing DC voltage is high

TDR
■ Fault location up to 32 km
■ Comparison of pairs
■ Comparison to stored waveform
■ XTALK point location

REMOTE CONTROL
■ ELC 30 loop closing device to open or close the far end of the tested cable
■ ECFL 30S slave unit to perform synchronic end to end Graaf measurement

AUTOMATIC TEST SEQUENCES
■ Automatic quick test of insulation resistance, capacitance, capacitive balance
■ Automatic quality test providing complete test protocols

DISPLAY
■ 320 x 240 dot graphic LCD display with backlight
■ Selectable English, German or Russian languages

USB PORT and PC PROGRAM
■ USB B device-port for direct PC connection
■ USB A host-port for USB stick (Indirect transfer)
■ Optional PC program for result transfer and parameter set edition
